Thanks for visiting this site to find out more about SME!

SME Services was established in 1994 to accommodate a need that a large national carrier had to process more than 5000 water back up claims in Brooklyn NY. Other area offices heard about the service and began to send work, and we have been working ever since.

We are licensed, bonded, and insured, independent insurance adjusters that cater to, and settle claims on behalf of, insurance carriers as well as self insureds. We greatly value our customers and look to establish relationships that last. For that reason we take ownership of the claims that we are assigned. We have a personal interest in each claim and its successful resolution. We make timely inspections and evaluations. Many times we get claims that have fallen through the cracks. An insured or claimant has been waiting too long for an inspection, or the carrier's staff was not familiar with a particular type of claim so it has languished with no settlement. We are used to solving problem claims. It is most of what we do! We turn them around and get them back on track.

Because we seek to establish long term relationships with our customers, our billing is very reasonable, our service is outstanding, and our settlement recommendations are accurate, fair, totally supported, and documented.

The company principal, Steve Marsiglia has more than 30 years experience in PP&C and commercial insurance claims. This includes direct construction repair experience, direct auto and equipment repair experience, and direct insurance carrier employment as an adjuster as well as in middle and upper management. He was responsible for the successful creation of a full service claims department for a local insurance carrier in 1992-93 that handled more than 15,000 claims per year. We know claims. We know how to keep our customers in a good light while still settling for a fair dollar. We are sympathetic to insureds and claimants for what they are going through, but at the same time we are vigilant and realistic with respect to indemnification and adhering to what the policy dictates. We try to be invisible. That is to say when we get an assignment, ideally the claim rep. can forget about that aspect of the claim until we send back our settlement recommendation. The reps. have enough to do and we do not add to their burden by generating complaints and inquiry calls. We work to solve problems not make problems
